Killingworth

Killingworth FC Women (affectionately known as “The Killy” or the “Amberley Army”) is the senior women’s pinnacle of one of the largest and most successful grassroots clubs in the North East. Based in North Tyneside, the club is a registered charity (Killingworth Young Peoples Club) and a pillar of the local community.

  • League Level: The Ladies’ senior side currently competes in the Northumberland Football Leagues (Women’s Division 1).

📈 Player Pathway: The “Killy” Factory

Killingworth FC is arguably most famous for its conveyor belt of talent. The women’s side benefits from:

  • Massive Youth Section: Girls’ teams at every single age group, including multiple teams per bracket (e.g., “Girls Blacks” and “Girls Reds”).
  • County Cup Success: In March 2026, both the U12 Girls Blacks and U14 Girls Reds reached the Northumberland FA County Cup Finals, showcasing the depth of talent waiting to enter the senior ranks.
  • Transitions: The club prioritizes “bridging” players from U17/U18 football directly into the Ladies’ team, ensuring long-term squad stability.

🤝 Culture & Ethos

  • “The Killy Family”: The club’s motto centers on community and integrity. They aim to provide a safe, high-quality environment where enjoyment is as important as ability.
  • Inclusivity: From futsal to walking football, the club is designed to be a “home for life” for its players. The Ladies’ side is a key part of this, offering a competitive environment for adults and university students in the area.
  • International Links: The club maintains a unique global link with Haddam-Killingworth Soccer Club in Connecticut, USA, fostering a sense of being part of a larger “Global Killy” community.
